Happy Birthday Anto

A small group of referees and staff gathered for lunch to celebrate a significant birthday milestone for Norths’ oldest active referee, Anto Panoyan.

 Anto has been refereeing at Norths for nearly 40 years and is respected by generations of basketballers, not just at Norths but also across the whole of New South Wales, and across the world. His calm officiating across all age groups has garnered him respect from a diverse range of players and personalities. 

Graeme Reid, Norths CEO, commented “Across several decades, Anto has always stepped up and helped whenever he was asked. As well as serving on Norths Board, he has refereed at Senior and Junior representative level, as well as across all divisions domestically. He has also refereed internationally in Armenia. Personally, I want to express my appreciation for his long service to Norths, his friendship to me, and to acknowledge his ongoing contribution to the enjoyment of so many of our members in the way he officiates his games.
