AUSTRALIAN U16 SAPPHIRES SELECTIONS

Congratulations to Norths Juniors Zoe Jackson and Ruby Perkins, on being selected into the Australian U16s Sapphires Team that will compete at the 2023 FIBA 16 Women’s Asian Championship in Amman, Jordan.

Ruby and Zoe were both part of the gold medal-winning Australian U15 side at the 2022 FIBA Oceania Championships in Guam and are looking to repeat their efforts in Jordan.

The talented duo will be joined by Norths Basketball Director, NBL1 & Senior Programs Tom Garlepp who will Head Coach the Sapphires.

“We have a solid team that will play tough and together basketball, the girls seem to value the defensive end of the floor and that is what makes them exciting from my point of view. The Asia Cup is such a challenging environment with strong female teams, so we will go and do our best and represent our country with great pride and see what happens!” - Tom Garlepp

Australia returns to Jordan to defend its Asian Championship title, having won gold in the last two consecutive U16 Asian Championships – the last being in 2022.

The championships are set to tip off on July 10-16.
